What is Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense, also known as present indefinite is the base form of a verb. The action that it represents is that of something that happens regularly. The word that will be used when talking in simple present tense will be the base form of the verb.

Simple Present Tense Rules

For example play will be used as play without changing its form to an -ing word as in continuous verb or an -ed word as in past tense verb. However, the word must retain its value as a verb and not change to sound like noun as in ‘the play’. Example: I watched the play Romeo and Juliet yesterday. Here the verb is watch used in past tense. The verb should not be used as infinitive. Example: I want to play. Here ‘play’ is used as infinitive and the main verb is ‘want’. The verb should also not be be part of future tense as in ‘will play’.Example: I will play tennis tomorrow.

Usage of Simple Present Tense in First Person

When I talk about my daily routine i say “I get up at 8 o’clock,” which means I do that every day. Another example is “I play cricket on Sundays,” which means “I do not play cricket every day” but I do it regularly on Sundays. One more example is “I live in Mumbai,” which means something that I do regularly everyday.

Using Simple Present Tense for the Listener

To the person you are talking to, you will say ‘You come late everyday’ or ‘You sleep at your desk every afternoon’.

Simple Present Tense Usage for Third Person Singular

In third person singular the verb usually ends with an ‘s’.

He: Amit drives dangerously.

She: Saba walks gracefully.

It: This car goes very fast.

Simple Present Tense for Third Person Plural

They: Sahil and Ranveer act like they are kids.

सिंपल प्रेजेंट टेंस कैसे इस्तेमाल करते है

सिंपल प्रेजेंट टेंस या साधारण क्रिया ऐसे वक्त के लिए इस्तेमाल होते है जब आपको एक ऐसा काम बताना है जो आप नियमित काम करते है या कोई काम जो रेगुलरली करते है जैसे “में रोज़ ८ बजे उठता हूँ”. और “में रविवार को क्रिकेट खेलता हूँ”

आप ध्यान दे सकते है यहाँ पर उठ और खेल के बाद ता लगाया गया है. हिंदी में ता से ख़त्म होने वाले शब्द हे इंग्लिश में सिंपल प्रेजेंट टेंस कहलाते है.

सिंपल प्रेजेंट टेंस इंग्लिश वर्ब या क्रिया का बेस फॉर्म या बुनियादी रूप है. यह रूप अलग अलग तरीके से इस्तेमाल होता है पर ज़रूरी नहीं है के वह सिंपल प्रेजेंट टेंस हो. जैसे शब्द प्ले Play इस्तेमाल हो सकता है I watched the play Romeo and Juliet yesterday ऐसे. परन्तु यहाँ प्ले नाउन या संज्ञा के रूप में है. और वाकया की क्रिया watched है. वैसे ही I want to play वाक्य में क्रिया want है और  play इनफिनिटिव वर्ब है. I will play tennis tomorrow वाक्य में play भविष्य कल की तरह इस्तेमाल है.

सुनने वाले के लिए You इस्तेमाल होगा जैसे

You come late everyday’ या ‘You sleep at your desk every afternoon’.

किसी तीसरे इंसान या चीज़ की बात चल रही हो तो क्रिया के शब्द के आखिर में s इस्तेमाल होगा. जैसे

He: Amit drives dangerously.

She: Saba walks gracefully.

It: This car goes very fast.

और एक से ज़्यादा हो तो

They: Sahil and Ranveer act like they are kids.

eat – eats | drink – drinks | take – takes | sleep – sleeps

Whenever I feel ill I take a paracetamol.

He takes some rest at 4 o’clock
